One of the hopeful signs in the present age is the number of young people who are concerned about the health of our planet. There seems to be a growing awareness of the relationships between healthy natural environments and healthy physical, social, and spiritual human community. We believe that what we have learned and practiced at The Grain Place for over 60 years as a pioneering organic farm can be shared in ways that help inspire younger folks. I am writing to invite you to join us by investing in younger folks through our foundation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
First, I want to thank you for the ways you are already doing this where you live, work, serve, and play. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Second, I want to share what we are doing and invite you to invest with us in encouraging younger folks. We are pleased to announce that Robert Wattermann is joining us as a beginning resident farmer. He moves onto the farm this week and will farm and learn under the guidance of our farm management team. Robert\u2019s work on the farm will be funded by the farm\u2019s operations budget and his involvements beyond farming are supported by Grain Place Foundation. Your encouragement of him is greatly appreciated.We are making a major commitment to our internship program with two investments:We have started construction of an Intern House to provide housing for interns and researchers while they are engaged at the farm. We have enough funding to put up the building. We need additional funding to finish the interior and furnish the rooms.We have established the \u201cJeannie Taylor Vetter Memorial Endowment\u201d to provide financial support for interns.
